Prayer for forgiveness
Prayer for Forgiveness
When you need to receive God's mercy or release someone who hurt you, this is a prayer for forgiveness.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You are faithful and just. That is why I can come to You with what I have done. Forgiveness is not You looking the other way. It is what Your Son's blood was sent to do. You are not bending the rules to keep me. You are keeping the rules and keeping me. I have lived too long thinking You only put up with me by not looking too close. But Your Word does not let me think that. The confession is real. The forgiveness is real. The cleansing is real. Wash what I bring You today, and let me walk out of this room lighter than I came in. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this forgiveness prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
