Prayer for peace
Prayer for Peace
When your heart is troubled and you need stillness you cannot manufacture, this is a prayer for the peace that Jesus gives.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You said, "Peace I leave with You. My peace I give to You. Not as the world gives do I give to You."
The world's peace is the absence of trouble. Quiet weather. Paid bills. A calm phone. Your peace is something else. It is a peace that holds in storms, with bills overdue, with the phone full of bad news.
Your peace did not keep the disciples from their trials. It went with them through everyone. So I am asking for Your peace, not the world's.
The circumstances are what they are this week. They may not change soon. But the peace can come anyway, because the peace is Yours and not the room's.
You said, "Let not Your heart be troubled." I cannot calm my own heart. But You can. And You have offered to do it for me.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this peace prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
