Wisdom Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that if I lack wisdom, I can ask You, and You will give it generously and without reproach. I hold on to that. You will not be angry with me for asking. You will not look down on me for not knowing what to do. The choices in front of me are too big for me to figure out on my own. I have thought about them. I have thought until my head hurts. What I need is not more facts. I need to see things the way You see them. Give me that kind of wisdom. Give me the next right step, even if it comes at the last moment. I trust You to show me in time. Help me to be still and wait for You instead of wearing myself out. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
