Theme

Summer Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, the days are long this season, and the weather is generous. You made time for everything, even summer. The work is different now. The rhythms are different. The pace of the house is different. Bless this season, honestly. The vacations that are coming. The kids who are out of school and underfoot. The garden that needs more water than usual. The longer evenings that invite slower talk on the porch. Slow me down enough to enjoy what summer is for. Save me from filling these months with the same frantic schedule I keep all year. You built rest into the week. You also built rest into the year. Help me take it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
