Loneliness Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You said You would never leave me and never let me go. That promise is holding me up today.
This week, the loneliness has been heavy. The phone has not rung the way I wanted it to. The friend I would call has been busy. The room feels emptier than it should.
You do not promise me that people will always be here. You promise me that You will. I wish I had both. But the one I can count on no matter what is You.
You are in this room. You are at the table when no one else is. You are here when sleep will not come. Help me notice the presence I keep forgetting is there.
The loneliness may not lift today. But You are here even when it does not lift. Hold me through the long hours.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
