Grace Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus,
You told Paul, "My grace is sufficient for You, for My power is made perfect in weakness."
That one verse holds two truths at once. Your grace is enough. And my weakness is the place where Your power is made complete.
I have treated my weaknesses like walls that keep Your grace out. But Your Word calls them the very place where Your grace works.
Lord, I have asked You to take away my thorn. You have given me something better: grace to live faithfully with it. The first answer would feel easier. The second is wiser.
Make me like Paul in this. If I must boast, let me boast in my weakness. Let the power of Christ rest on me in the places I wanted to look strong.
Your grace is enough. I will stop asking for more than that.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
