Freedom In Christ Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You bought my freedom with the blood of Jesus. Christ has set me free, and I will not go back to being a slave.
The slavery I am tempted to return to is quiet now. It is the need to earn Your love by checking off a list. It is performing for others instead of resting in Your grace. It is the shame that keeps me from bringing my failures to You.
None of these is the freedom Christ purchased.
Stand me firm. The yoke I carried was real. The freedom You gave is real. The temptation to put that yoke back on is real. Refuse to let me return. Christ paid too much for me to live as a slave. Move me into the freedom and keep me there.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
