Father’s Love Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped theme prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, as a father shows compassion to his children, so You show compassion to those who fear You. Psalm 103:13. You are not stern. You are not distant. You are not too busy for me. You bend toward me with compassion because that is who You are. I have not always pictured You that way. I have picked up the wrong pictures from human fathers who were silent, harsh, absent, or just too tired. Those pictures are not true of You. Replace them today. Be the father this verse describes. Your compassion is who You are. The fear this verse means is deep respect, not terror. I am Your child. Hold me as one. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
