Teens Prayer for December 23rd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Luke 2 says the shepherds said, 'Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened.' They moved. They did not just wonder. They went. December, for me, has had a lot of wondering and not enough going on. Help me close one gap this week. Send the text. Apologize to the family member. Read the chapter. Stop just thinking about it. Like the shepherds, let me actually go. Going means putting the phone down and standing up. The shepherds had to walk in the dark to get there. The arrival was worth it. Help me have the same courage for whatever small thing You are asking of me today. The angel told them where to go. I believe You have been speaking to me too, in quiet ways, I have been slow to hear. Help me obey one of them. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
