Teens Prayer for December 18th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Hebrews 13 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Same as last year. Same as last decade. Same as before I was born and after I die. The world around me changes fast: apps, friends, plans, and my own opinions. Anchor me to what is not changing. When my head feels loud with so much change, help me find the still center. You are steady. You are faithful. You are reliable. That is what I want in the people around me, and it is even more true of You. Be my unchanging center. Let the edges of my life keep moving, but do not let them throw me off. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
