Teens Prayer for October 19th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 16 says that in Your presence there is fullness of joy. That is the part I keep missing. I take little sips of You and then wonder why I am still thirsty. I have been treating prayer like a vending machine. Fast in, fast out, just grabbing a snack. Bring me into longer time with You. Not more rules. Just help me actually stay. Let me linger today even when nothing is happening. Sometimes that is when You speak. Slow me down enough to sit with You. Even ten minutes of staying instead of five minutes of grabbing would change my whole life. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
