Teens Prayer for October 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present Your requests to God." Do not be anxious feels like a command I cannot follow. But the verse does not stop there. It says, instead of anxiety, take it to You with thanks. The thanks part is what I keep skipping. Today, I will not just dump my requests. First, I will name three real things I am grateful for. That helps me see that You are bigger than the things I am scared about. Help me start with thanks before I start with my worries. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
