Teens Prayer for September 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, James 1 says to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. I am pretty much the opposite. I am quick to speak, quick to get my opinion in, and quick to anger when someone disagrees. Online especially. Slow me down today. Let me practice being the quietest person in a conversation for a change. Not because I have nothing to say, but because listening might teach me something. Save me from typing the reaction before I think. Most of my regrets are about words. Help me have fewer of those by tonight. Help me be the kid who listens this week, even when I have a hot take ready to throw. Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
