Teens Prayer for August 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus goes ahead of me into the days I am afraid of. He went ahead into death, into loneliness, into being misunderstood. Whatever I have to walk into today, He has been there first. Help me keep that in my mind when I open the school door. He is not behind me. He is ahead of me, and where He has been, I can go. Jesus does the hard work first, breaking open the path so I can walk through. That is what He is doing for me in the moments I dread. The path is already open. I just have to take a step. Help me take it without rehearsing my fear for an hour first. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
