Teens Prayer for August 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I keep asking, "What of the night?" How long does this season last? How long does this loneliness last? How long until I feel like myself again? In Isaiah 21, a watchman stays at his post through the dark hours, waiting for morning. He does not sleep just because the night is long. Watching is the work. I am not asking You to fast-forward through this. I have learned that does not really happen. I am asking You to be the watchman with me. Let me not pretend the night is not dark. But let me also not pretend it is forever. Morning is coming because You are faithful. Even slowly, it still counts. Help me watch the night with You and not run from it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
