Teens Prayer for August 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in the book of Ruth, a young woman with nothing asked to go work in the fields. She took the small job. She did not wait for something big. That took courage. Today, help me do my small jobs without complaining. The kitchen. The homework. The text I owe someone. The hour at practice. I do not need a spotlight to live a life that matters to You. Help me do today's small things on purpose. Let me work without bitterness, knowing that quiet, faithful work is one of the places You meet me. Ruth did not earn her way into Your story. You chose her because You are kind. Help me trust that faithfulness in small things matters more than I can see right now. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
