Teens Prayer for July 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 73 says, "I was foolish and ignorant; I was like a brute beast before You." That is uncomfortable, but honest. There are parts of me that are not thoughtful or noble. I react like an animal. I lash out when I am tired. I want what I want. I do not pause. You see that version of me already, and You have not left. Show me where I am still reactive, still jealous, still snapping at the people I love. Soften me. Slow me down. Make me more thoughtful by tonight than I was this morning. That would be enough. The psalmist did not stay in that brute-beast verse. He moved on to being held by Your hand. I want that same movement, from instinct to held. Walk me through it today. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
