Teens Prayer for July 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in Jonah 4, You asked him a hard question: “Is it right for You to be angry?” Jonah said yes. I would have said yes too. I get angry about small things and big things, even things I don’t want to name. Sometimes it’s real, and sometimes I’m just tired. Don’t let me act like my anger is holy when it’s really just pride or hurt. Show me what’s underneath before I blow up. Is it fear? Embarrassment? Something I lost? Help me call it what it is. I don’t want to carry around a hidden anger that I never look at. Cool me down. Then help me speak from a quiet place, or stay quiet if that’s better. When I tell You honestly what I’m feeling, I don’t need to shout it at someone else. Make me slow to react and quick to admit what’s really going on inside. Amen.
