Teens Prayer for July 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, 1 Peter 5 says that after we have suffered a little while, You will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us. "A little while" is the hard part. Right now, it does not feel little. The thing I am dealing with feels endless: the friendship that fell apart, the family thing, the way I do not like myself most days. I am not asking You to skip the suffering part. I just want to believe there is something on the other side of it that is not just me being a wreck. Hold that promise out where I can see it. I will trust that what You are doing in me is not finished, even when it feels like nothing is happening. Some seasons are mostly silent on the outside while everything is being rebuilt underneath the surface. Be patient with me; I am being patient with the silence. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
    1 Peter 5:10
