Teens Prayer for July 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, summer feels long. I do not know what to do with my own head when school is not telling me where to be. My phone fills the empty hours with stuff I do not actually want. Some of it makes me feel worse. Zechariah 14 says that one day living waters will flow from the city in summer and in winter. That means You do not go quiet when my schedule changes. You are still here. Help me find You in the in-between days, not just when there is a crisis or a Sunday service. I do not need to be the best at praying. I do not need to read more than anyone else. I just need to keep showing up. Show me one small thing to do today. Help me text someone who needs it. Help me read one chapter. Help me put my phone down for a while. I will not try to fix the whole summer at once. I will trust You for this afternoon. Help me see that the small choices I make in the boring hours are forming the person I am becoming. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. It will happen in that day that living waters will go out from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea. It will be so in summer and in winter.
    Zechariah 14:8
