Teens Prayer for June 27th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I keep wishing I had more — more money, more freedom, more of whatever the kids whose lives look better than mine seem to have. In the Bible, Pharaoh said he would let Your people go, but only a little way. It was not real freedom. I think I do the same thing with You. I ask for good things, but only the small ones. Only the ones that do not really change me. That is not freedom. That is just bargaining. Take away the small wishing. Pull me back from staring at what other people have. Put me in front of what You are really offering me — and it is whole, not half. Some of what I want is okay. But some of it is just envy I have dressed up as ambition. Sort it out for me, God. Tomorrow, help me make one choice that costs me something instead of one that just makes me feel safe. Amen.
