Teens Prayer for May 31st

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, today is the last day of May. The final week of school starts tomorrow. Sometimes, whole groups of people go through a hard moment together, and I am sitting at the end of this long year feeling a little of that. Some of the year was hard. Some of it was actually good. I did not always notice the good while it was happening. Tonight, let me name two: the friend who showed up at the worst hour without my having to ask, and the teacher who once said one sentence that has stayed with me all spring. Thank You. Forgive what was sin in this month. Let me close my eyes. June starts tomorrow morning, whether I am ready or not. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
