Teens Prayer for May 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I do not feel like being the bigger person today. But Psalm 107 says You lead people down the right road to a place where they can live. Lead me down the right road even when I do not want to go. The friend I need to say sorry to has not made it easy. They are still acting like they did nothing wrong. Help me say sorry anyway. Not for what was not my fault. Just for what was. One sentence. Clear. No excuses. After that, what they do with it is on them. I am not going to wait until I feel generous. I do not have to. The feeling might never come, and that is okay. The act is the obedience. And the obedience counts with You even when my heart does not want to help. Help me move tomorrow morning before I can talk myself out of it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
