Teens Prayer for April 30th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, this month felt longer than the calendar said it would be. Your people, Israel, once complained out loud, even after You had rescued them. I have been doing the same thing. I have been ungrateful all month, sometimes in my head and sometimes right out loud. Tonight, I do not want one more complaint. Instead, two things I am actually thankful for: a real conversation with my mom on Tuesday that I almost ducked out of, and the friend who texted me a meme at exactly the right second on Wednesday. Receive those. Forgive what was sin in me. Give me eyes that notice good things without making them work for my attention. Give me a heart that does not keep a list of who has to behave for me to be okay. Let tomorrow start over with Your mercy and with my willingness to see it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
