Teens Prayer for April 21st

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I have been hiding behind sarcasm. Your Word says my Redeemer lives and will stand for me on the last day. If He is going to stand for me on the worst day ever, I can stop hiding behind jokes right now. Bring me out from behind it. The sarcasm has been my way of saying things I really mean without anyone calling me out. It is not honest. It also hurts the people I aim it at. Take it from me. Help me say at least one sincere thing tomorrow. Not in a big dramatic way. Just one true sentence to a person who matters to me. Make me whole. Honest. Less protected and more known. That is how You made me to be.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
