Teens Prayer for April 10th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I tried to pray, and my mind went straight to a dumb argument I had with my sister this morning. But You already walked into this world. You already went to the cross for me. Even my distractions are in a place You have already been. I do not have to clean myself up to be heard. I do not have to focus to be loved. Use these five scattered minutes. Use the half-attention. Use even the thought about my sister. Your Spirit prays in me when I cannot get the words out right. Jesus stands in front of the Father for me, whether or not I stay present. Tomorrow, same time, same chair, same scrambled brain. Showing up is the obedience. Make me a person who keeps showing up. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
