Teens Prayer for April 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, why do I put off simple things? The math assignment is sitting right there. The text to my grandmother is one tap away. Jesus remained silent before Pilate, steady and calm, not needing to prove anything. Sometimes obedience is not loud or dramatic. It is just quiet steadiness while I do what needs to be done. Give me that kind of steadiness. I am not going to wait until I feel motivated. I am going to open the textbook. I am going to send the text. I am going to take the next small step of obedience, whether or not the feeling joins me. The feeling does not have to come. The action is what You see. Make me someone who finishes small tasks instead of arguing with myself about them. Move me.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
