Teens Prayer for March 29th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, a teacher called me disappointing in front of other students this morning. The part of me that wants to be impressive just crumpled.
You know I want to skip the hard lessons. Hebrews says Jesus learned obedience through what He suffered. He chose the hard road for me. I do not want to choose it for myself. Take the wanting to skip.
I am getting criticism I partly deserve and partly do not. Pull me back from defending my image. Turn me toward actually being teachable.
The criticism does not define me. The praise does not define me. You define me.
Help me say thank You when there is something to learn. Help me let the rest go without replaying it in my head over and over. Tomorrow I will walk into first period and meet my teacher's eye anyway. That is the small obedience. The rest is You.
Amen.
