Teens Prayer for March 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I am scared about the news. Not in a vague way. Something specific is coming, and it will hurt people I love. I do not get to name how this ends. That is Yours. Help me give it to You. In the Bible, Rachel named her son as she was dying, and his father changed the name to one meaning “strength.” Do that with my fear. Take it and give it a name I could not see. The thing I am afraid of may or may not happen. But I know what I can do next. I can pray for the real people in this by their real names instead of reading more news. I can help one of them in some small way this week. I can stop adding fear to the group chat where everyone is already panicking. Make me useful in a small way instead of overwhelmed in a big one. Move me toward the next small thing You are asking me to do. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
