Teens Prayer for March 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I have been pretending I have it together with one friend. The pretending is wearing me out. I have been borrowing my whole sense of stability from someone I am not even being honest with. In the Bible, Israel had to go to their enemies just to sharpen their tools because they had nothing of their own. That is what I have been doing. Going to a person to feel steady when I should be coming to You. Take the pretending. Let me say one true sentence about how I am actually doing the next time they ask. They may handle it well. They may not. Either way, a friendship built on the fake version of me is not one I can keep up. You see the real me. You are not going anywhere. From that foundation, I can risk being honest with one human friend. Help me. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
