Teens Prayer for February 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I do not want to do the kind thing. There is someone who needs help moving something tomorrow, and I have been avoiding the text on purpose. You are the God who gives strength when mine runs out. Lend me some. The reluctance is real. The obligation is also real. I am not going to wait until I feel generous to act generously. I'll text them tonight. I'll show up on time. I'll help without making it a big deal. The feeling can catch up later or not at all. The act counts in front of You either way. Take this small reluctance and walk me past it. Make me someone who does the hard, quiet kind thing — and doesn't make a show of it.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
