Teens Prayer for February 17th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord, I do not know what to do about college. I have been pretending I know more than I do because everyone keeps asking. In Genesis, after Abraham died, God blessed Isaac — the next generation got carried after the elder was gone. I am scared of being the next generation. I am scared of being on my own. I am scared of choosing wrong and messing up a whole decade. Shrink the fear back down to the next true thing. Tonight: finish the one essay. This week: ask the teacher the question I have been embarrassed to ask. This month: visit one of the schools I have only been dreaming about. None of those choices cannot be undone. None of them locks in a future. You are going wherever I am going. The fear is loud, but it is not in charge. Help me take the next step without pretending I can see the whole map. Amen.
