Teens Prayer for February 9th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, everything good in my life feels far away today. In 2 Samuel 5:23, David asked You for direction, and You told him to wait until he heard the sound in the tops of the mulberry trees. I am listening, and I am not hearing it yet. I want to feel close to You again. That has not shown up this week. So I will keep showing up to the small stuff — class, family, sleep, the chapter I'm reading, the friend I'm checking on — and trust that Your silence is not the same as You being gone. Hope is not a feeling I can just make happen. It is a slow belief that this week is not the whole story. Hold me to that. Let me do tomorrow morning's next right thing without needing to feel anything first. The mulberry trees are not done yet. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

    2 Samuel 5:23
  2. When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
