Teens Prayer for February 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I want to win. I want the role, the spot, the recognition — more than I want to say out loud. You came to save Your people from their sins, and right now the sin I need saving from is wanting to be above everyone else. Not just better. Above. Seen as ahead. I am tired of treating my friends like competition. Make me care less about standing higher and more interested in just being good. If I get the role, fine. If I don't, fine. I can live with either. But the part of me that thinks my value depends on the outcome — that part needs to die. It has been driving me for months. Take the keys. Put me back where I belong — somewhere quiet, somewhere small, somewhere that is not the center — with You. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
