Teens Prayer for January 21st
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I'm trying to pray, but my brain is already at school, two days from now, in a conversation that might not even happen. You said in Romans 11:26 that all Israel will be saved. That is so big I can't even hold it in my head. And here I am, unable to hold five minutes of attention. The difference is kind of funny and a little embarrassing. Keep me anyway. I don't need to fix my focus before I'm allowed to be here. I am here. That is enough to start with. Take the loop my brain keeps running about Thursday. I will deal with Thursday on Thursday. For right now, I just want to be with You and stop fighting for control. When my own words run out, Romans 8 says the Spirit prays inside me. Use that. Quiet me. The relationship is not on me to maintain by being mentally sharp. It is held by Christ. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
