Teens Prayer for January 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, there is a kid in my fourth period who gets under my skin. They are loud. They are right when I do not want them to be. They bring up things I want to forget. I have been going over mean things to say to them all week. That is not who I want to be. Your Word says to grow in Your grace and know Jesus more. I have been growing a list of complaints instead. I cannot fix this on my own. Help me stop adding to the list. Help me not laugh when others make fun of them. Help me want good things for them, even when my day is not going well. Take the mean words out of my mouth before tomorrow. They were made by You. That did not change the day they bothered me. Help me say nothing instead of the clever thing I want to say. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
