Teens Prayer for January 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, before I check the group chat, before I scroll, before anyone else tells me what today is — let me hand it to You. In the Bible, Your people ate manna for years, but it stopped when they finally had real food from the land You promised. I get that. I survive on phone in hand, half-watched videos, a thousand little reassurances I don't actually need. Stop the manna. Feed me on something that lasts past lunch. I have classes I dread today, a person I owe a real apology to, and one decision I keep dodging. Walk through it with me, please — not the picture-perfect version, the actual one. Help me say the first true sentence of the day to whoever I meet first. Help me not perform. Receive this day from me, since I cannot keep it well on my own. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel didn’t have manna any more, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
    Joshua 5:12
