Woman Caught In Adultery Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You said, Let the one who has no sin throw the first stone. The crowd dropped their hands and walked away, oldest first. You were left alone with her. Has no one condemned You? You asked. No one, Lord, she said. Neither do I condemn You. Go and sin no more. You spoke both grace and truth in the same breath. You always do. Hold both in me. Do not let me take Your kindness and ignore Your call to change. Do not let me hear only the command and forget the mercy. The same You who would not throw a stone is the You who told her to walk a new way. Speak both to me the next time I fail. The crowd is gone. The stones are on the ground. The way forward is open. Make me the woman who left that place and did not go back to who she was. Amen.
