Wedding Supper Of The Lamb Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, the angel in Revelation 19:9 says, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.' That word 'blessed' stays with me. The whole story of the world ends not in a courtroom but at a dinner. You, the Lamb who was slain, are the groom. Your church, made ready, is the bride. The supper is the celebration that follows. Father, the invitation has already been sent. Make me one of the blessed who are invited and who actually come. The bride is given fine linen to wear, which is the righteous deeds of the saints. Those garments are a gift. The readiness is a response to Your grace. Keep me ready until that day. The supper has the best wine, the best food, and the best company, all prepared by You, the One who arranged this marriage from the start. I do not want to miss it. Hold me close. Send me to that supper, dressed in the white clothes You have given me to wear. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
