Walking On Water Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus,
You called Peter out of the boat and onto the water. He stepped out in faith. Then he saw the wind and the waves, and he was afraid, and he began to sink. He cried out, "Lord, save me." And You reached out Your hand and caught him.
You did not let him drown to teach him a lesson. You held him first. The teaching came while he was safe in Your grip.
Make me a Peter who steps out at Your word. When I look at the storm and start to sink, hold me up. The wind is real. The fear is real. But Your hand is also real.
Save me from a faith that never leaves the boat just to stay safe. Keep me from playing it safe when You are calling me to step out. I do not want a quiet, small faith that never risks anything.
Teach me that walking with You is safer than staying behind without You. Hold me when I doubt. Hold me when I sink. Hold me while You teach me.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
