Visit Of The Magi Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, we read in Matthew 2:11 that going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered Him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Lord, these wise men were not from Your chosen people. They were outsiders. Yet the heavens had been preaching the news and they followed the star anyway. Their worship shows that Christ is for all nations, not just one.
The gifts they brought were full of meaning. Gold for a king. Frankincense for a priest. Myrrh for a burial. You were showing who Your Son would be.
Father, make us like these travelers. The journey is long. The destination is humble. Help us bring the very best of what we have and lay it before Jesus. He is worth every step.
Amen.
