Triumphal Entry Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, the crowd shouted Hosanna when You rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. They laid their cloaks and palm branches on the road. Your disciples sang praise. But by the end of that same week, many of those same voices were shouting, "Crucify Him." The same lips that sang Your praise on Sunday called for Your death on Friday. That truth shakes me. Lord, I do not want thin praise like that. I do not want a Sunday faith that falls apart when Friday comes. The cost of following You is real. Hard days come. Pain comes. Fear comes. Make my praise last. Make my heart hold to You when the road gets hard. You chose a donkey, not a warhorse. You are the king of peace. You come gently. And You are still the same king at the end of the week, even when the crowd is gone. Let my Hosanna hold through Good Friday. Let my faith be built on You, not on how I feel. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
