Three Men In The Fiery Furnace Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your servants Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood before a king and said You were able to save them from the fire. They said even if You did not, they would not bow. That is the kind of faith I want. Not the kind that only obeys when the rescue is sure. The kind that trusts You when the furnace is hot, and the outcome is not what I would choose. I will not bow to anything but You. Lord, the fire is real, but so is the fourth figure walking in it with the faithful. You are in the fire with me. Stay with me in mine. Form me into the kind of person who trusts You no matter what. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

  2. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”
