The Woman And The Dragon Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You showed John a sign in heaven. A woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet, a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was about to give birth. A red dragon stood ready to devour her child as soon as he was born. But the child was caught up to God. You gave the woman wings to flee.

Father, the people in Bethlehem did not see the dragon at the door. But You let John see it from Patmos. You recorded it for Your church. The fight against Your plan was not just on earth. It was bigger than that.

Lord, the same dragon still opposes Your church. The form changes. The fight goes on. Your people still flee to wilderness places. Sometimes You sustain us there before the next round. Hold us in those seasons. We need You there.

The dragon is real. But the victory is already won. You gave us this vision so we would not be surprised by the fight or by the win.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
