Stoning Of Stephen Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Stephen fell to his knees as they stoned him. He prayed, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." He saw heaven open. He saw Jesus standing at Your right hand. And Saul, who would become the apostle Paul, was right there watching. Father, Stephen's dying prayer was a seed planted in Saul's heart. That seed grew into a life that changed the world. Form me into a Stephen when I face any small hurt or unfair treatment. Let me forgive the way he forgave. The words I say over someone who wrongs me may bear fruit I cannot yet see. Hold Your church through every hard time, and let the seed of forgiveness keep growing. Amen.
