Sodom And Gomorrah Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, will not the Judge of all the earth do what is just? That is what Abraham asked in Genesis 18. He bargained for Sodom. He started with fifty righteous people, then forty-five, then forty, all the way down to ten. You did not shut him down. You did not call it rude. You were patient with him at every step. In the end, the city could not even find ten. The judgment came as You said it would. But Your justice was real. Your patience was real. And the rescue of Lot was real. Make me an intercessor like Abraham for the cities where I live. They may be closer to Sodom than I want to admit. Still, I ask You: stay Your hand for the sake of the few who are faithful. Send Your church to be salt and light. Save what can be saved. And rescue Your people when the time comes. Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
May it be far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”
Genesis 18:25
