Sermon On The Mount Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, Your Sermon on the Mount is too much to take in all at once. Help me to read it slowly, paragraph by paragraph, over years. The teaching that is hardest for me to obey is usually the teaching I most need to hear. Form me into the kind of person the Sermon describes — meek, a peacemaker, generous, quiet in my good deeds, trusting You to provide. The wise builder in chapter 7 was not the one who heard the words but the one who did them. Make me a doer, not just a hearer. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
