Ruth And Boaz Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Boaz blessed Ruth before he knew she would become his wife. He had heard of her loyalty to Naomi. He gave her a meal at the workers' table. He dropped extra grain on purpose so she could gather it. He kept her safe from harm. And from their family line came David, and from David came Jesus. Lord, the small kindnesses of ordinary people move forward through generations in ways no one at the time could have seen. Bless the Boaz people in our churches — those who quietly protect the vulnerable. Bless the Ruth people — those who have stayed loyal at great cost. You see every kindness, even the ones we will not see rewarded in our lifetime. Reward them in Your time, in Your generations to come. Thank You that the line of Christ runs through ordinary obedience. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given to you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
    Ruth 2:12
