Raising Of Tabitha Dorcas Prayer

A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Acts 9, we meet Tabitha, also called Dorcas, a disciple full of good works and kindness. When she died, the widows stood beside Peter weeping, holding up tunics and garments she had made. Their eulogy was not just words. It was the cloth in their hands.

Bless the Dorcases in our churches today. The women who quietly knit, cook, visit, host, and weave Your body together with countless small acts. They are often unseen and unsung. Raise them up when they fall.

And when the day comes to remember any of us, may there be tunics held up at the funeral — real proof of a life lived in love.

Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
