Raising Of Jairus’ Daughter Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says, 'Do not fear, only believe.' That is what You told Jairus when his daughter had died. The messengers said it was too late. Their report was not Your last word. You sent the crowd away. Only the parents and three disciples went in with You. You took the girl by the hand and said, 'Little girl, arise.' And she lived. Father, the news that says it is too late has come to our homes, too. A diagnosis that closed a door. A friendship that seems broken. A chance that has passed. We have heard reports that feel final. But You are not done. The same Jesus who raised a girl in a quiet room in Capernaum holds the things we have given up on. Speak where we have stopped hoping. Open what we thought was shut. If You bring new life, we will praise You. If the road is hard, give us grace to keep believing while we grieve. Do not let fear have the last word. You do. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
